One of my favorite apps for my iPhone and iPad is Flipboard. Can I get the same information a million different places? Sure. But Flipboard gives the look and feel of a magazine that really makes reading the news such a pleasure.
For those of you unfamiliar with the platform, here is what it looks like on the iPhone:
Flipboard aggregates your favorite content based on interest areas that you choose. For example, you see in the second photo I have design, photography, music, travel, sports, and film sections. Within each section are stories based on the content you like. In the iPhone a simple swipe up gets you from page to page within a story, akin to flipping an old school steno pad. The iPad gives you a magazine feel, with a side swipe to change pages within the story or within the app as a whole.
The newest version of this app highlights and adds some great features, most adding a very social feel to the news reading experience. Probably the coolest one of these is the ability to create your own magazines from the stories you like, publishable on the app for other users to see.
All you do is click the plus button an add it to the magazine you create. Add a couple of stories and you've got yourself a magazine that's probably better than the New Yorker.
As you can see, it is quite easy to have fun creating your own magazine. You can share these with friends or with the Flipboard community. They feature magazines of users often, so do your best and maybe you'll get on their proverbial fridge.
Overall, Flipboard is a great way to read the news and articles that are important to you in a beautiful, fun way.
